Reasons for Establishment

The number of Moroccans in the United States has increased significantly, thanks to the annual Diversity Visa Program, which enables thousands of Moroccans to obtain a Green Card and reside in the U.S. Despite the existence of various associations dedicated to the affairs of these newcomers, the majority—if not all—of these associations remain essentially non-civic entities; they are incapable of fostering integration or promoting American values. Instead, they tend to perpetuate the negative aspects of their culture of origin—specifically, those rooted in discrimination based on gender and differences in individual and collective beliefs.

In light of this context, the Moroccan-American Congress was established as the first non-governmental civic organization dedicated to empowering newcomers, facilitating their integration into American society, and cultivating within them an appreciation for diversity and respect for other cultures.
